If you haven’t heard the FDA says Zantac should be pulled from the market, citing Cancer risks. If you are like many people you have experienced heartburn after eating one of your favorite spicy or acidic dishes and maybe Zantac was you're relief as it was for me and many Americans. 


With this new scary development being released by the FDA I’m sure people are now trying to find an alternative method to get relief. We're going to dive into some natural remedies to help you get relief and put down the Zantac!


GO ALKALINE


What is alkaline? It means to consume foods at a pH level of 7 or higher. Essentially you would eliminate acidic foods like dairy, eggs, processed foods and replace them with alkaline foods like fruits, vegetables, and nuts.If you like green vegetables and have acid reflux, you’re in luck. Asparagus, spinach, kale and brussels sprouts all are highly alkaline, meaning they’re good for your stomach and digestive system.Most importantly drink alkaline water as alkalinity is achieved by drinking water that is also of a Ph of 7 or higher.


Apple Cider Vinegar 


Apple cider vinegar, or cider vinegar, is a vinegar made from fermented apple juice. It has some amazing health benefits. One of them being, getting rid of heartburn and an upset stomach. The taste of the liquid is a little unbearable for my taste buds so I consume through pill form. Depending on the severity of the indigestion I take 2 or 3 to knock out the pain.   


Ginger Tea


Ginger tea is great for many stomach ailments, one being chronic acid reflux. You can find ginger tea at your local supermarket. For full flavor, simmer slices of ginger root in water for 30 minutes. For maximum benefit, drink the tea before a meal to maximize the impact. Another tea to try is Chamomile. Chamomile also reduces stress levels, which can contribute to heartburn.


GO BANANAS


Bananas have natural antacid properties that counteract acid reflux. Eatingthis low-acid fruit can help those with acid reflux by coating an irritated esophageal lining and thereby helping to combat discomfort.Another great fruit to try is an apple.


As you can see Zantac isn’t the only way to fight heartburn. There are plenty of healthy options that won’t put you or you're loved ones at risk. Put down the Zantac and pick up one of my suggestions. Your body will thank you for it.
